Heritage Tomatoes Galore!
Hello Tomato Lovers,
We are in tomato heaven! We have come into a fabulous bounty of heritage tomatoes. Thanks to our friend, Pat Smith, of T.A. Kirklin Farms, we have access to lots and lots of late season, perfectly ripe heritage tomatoes.. She has trained us in how to control ripening so that they are in peak ripeness when we need them. And we want to share them with you, so for as long as they last, which may be as long as two (three?) weeks, we will be having special salads, soups, and other tomato forward dishes.
The most glorious, beautiful, tomato-ie, not to mention sumptuous of them is panzanella, a Tuscan salad loaded with local heirloom tomatoes, croutons, red onions, cucumbers, basil leaves, topped with a tomato vinaigrette. Yes, the “pan” part of that word comes from the word for bread, just as the “pan” in companion (which carries the meaning of “with bread”) does.
For those who want the clean crisp tomato essence with more cucumber freshness, we have this cucumber/tomato salad which has a clean, bright taste. Also how about a pesto tomato open faced sandwich? And we have rosemary/tomato/feta focaccia available. And of course we will be serving tomato bisque!
On Sunday the 8th (tomorrow), The Living Room Musicians will be the music group. They will play from about 10 AM to Noon. They consist of Hammered Dulcimer, Recorder, and miscellaneous Percussion instruments. A gentle, sweet combination that is fun and traditional as befits their name. Come for the music, do the tomatoes, Come for the tomatoes, do the music. In any event, I look forward to seeing you soon.
Best from all of us,
All of Us
