Woah! The Holidays Are Already Here!

It seems that we all search for comfort and tradition at this time of year. Sometimes that comfort is difficult to find. Getting ready for Thanksgiving, we at the bakery are reminding ourselves of the importance of loving and supporting all of the people in each of our small corners of the universe. It seems to us that kindness and generosity make our lives happier. Even when our country and our friends and our families appear to be deeply divided, trying to honor the good in everyone seems somehow to be the best that we can do.

Of course, given Sarkozy Bakery’s propensities, that means SPECIAL FOOD! Did I hear someone say "pies" in the same sentence that they said "Sarkozy Bakery"? Well guess what? We are branching out and while our production will be limited, we are making the leap into pies! We already know how to make the crust which to my mind is maybe the most important part of pies. So we are debuting two pies. Pecan Hazelnut pie and Brown Butter Pumpkin pie! The Pecan Hazelnut is lot like traditional pecan pie, but with a little chocolate and a little more complexity with the hazelnuts, and not too sweet. Don't tell Alec’s grandmother that he thinks our’s is better than her’s.

We don't want to mess too much with traditional pumpkin pie because people are very particular. We just wanna tweak it. It's pumpkin and it's brown butter and it's caramelized honey. Yeah it's your traditional pie, but it's better.

Of course we also have our Cranberry Orange Quick Bread, our Cranberry Walnut Bread, and a wonderful Apple Cinnamon Babka. Now Babka by itself is pretty special, but this also has a crumble and a bourbon caramel sauce.

We have Russian Tea Cakes, all of our coffee, cakes, and a bunch of wonderful dinner rolls. We have Potato dinner rolls, Cloverleaf rolls, Butterflake rolls, and will sell you Potato rolls frozen as well as Knot rolls made of challah dough.

Now, I want to tell a story about our stuffing mix. Or if you are from the south, you probably call it dressing. Just as cider tastes better when it's made with the whole lot of different kinds of apples, dressing (or stuffing) tastes a whole lot more complex when it's made with a lot of different breads. We slice and dice all kinds of bread, toast them and then bag them up. Then we add  a little bag of herb mix, you know the drill, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, and basil. But you don't have to use that herb mix if that's not what you put in your family's stuffing. There is a recipe on the package, which is pretty loose to accommodate whatever your family craves.

We're ready. We want to help make this a special Thanksgiving and we hope you have a great feast of friendship and food. Oh! Wait, here’s our full holiday menu. Please place your orders by calling us at 269.342.1952 and one of the bakers will help you out. We’re taking orders until Monday, 11/27, but the sooner you can get them in, the better!

Our very best to you,
The Sarkozy Crew!
